Important
Information
  • Take into consideration before starting any project that all building code requirements are met for your local jurisdiction. Contact your building inspector, architect or contractor about any fire-related building code requirements in your area.
  • All surfaces are to be uniform and straight
  • RAPIDPANEL panels shall be supported and fastened every 16” to 24” maximum. Install continuous backing at the perimeters and around all openings to support all trims
  • If the RAPIDPANEL panel runs parallel to ceiling joists, roof trusses or wall studs, install an additional 1” x 3” metal or wood strapping at 16” to 24” maximum centers
  • Install backing at the location of butt joints, for support of the H Trim
  • Where items are to be hung on ceiling or wall, additional backing should be installed
  • Electrical boxes shall be supported prior to installation of panels
  • Before the start of installation, install all air, thermal, moisture and vapour barriers as required. These items are not provided as part of the RAPIDPANEL system
  • RAPIDPANEL panels shall only be installed at temperatures above 5°C, panels may chip if installed below 5°C
  • All materials shall be climatized for 24 hours prior to installation
  • RAPIDPANEL shall not be directly exposed to flame or radiant heat sources
  • Refer to your local Fuels and building codes as well as Manufacturer’s directions for clearance to heaters
  • Provide clearances between all panels during installation as follows:
    • ¼” clearance minimum at each end of all ceiling panels
    • ¼” clearance minimum at top of all wall panels
  • Clearances are based on a maximum temperature fluctuation of 22°C
  • When installing screws through the flange, ensure screws are installed in the center of the flange openings as well as maintaining a minimum of 1/16″ space between the back of the screw head and screw flange. This will accommodate for expansion and contraction of the panels.
  • Determine panel layout and width of first panel so that the first and last panel in each wall section will
    be a minimum of 8” wide
  • In wet environments (WASH BAY), begin by installing J Trim along the bottom of the wall at least 1”
    above top of slab or finished floor level.
    • Drill ¼” diameter drain holes in the bottom of the J Trim at 48” on center
    • Install J Trim at the top of walls
  • Determine panel layout and width of the first panel so that the first and last panel will be a minimum of 8” wide
  • Plan the layout of H Trim to achieve an even balanced look with backing for installation 
  • Ensure each panel has 1/4″ space for expansion
  • Fasten every 24” maximum along the length of the RAPIDPANEL panel. Fasten within 4” to 6” from the end of the panels
  • RAPIDPANEL PVC panels are paintable. To achieve the best results, use
    100% acrylic latex paint or acrylic latex with a urethane additive. It is also
    recommended to use self-priming paints or a primer and paint combination.
  • Paint Type:
    Recommend using 100% acrylic latex paint or acrylic latex with urethane. This
    ensures proper adhesion and durability on the PVC material.
  • Priming:
    Self-priming paints or a primer and paint combination, are recommended to ensure
    optimal adhesion and a smooth finish.
  • Application:
    Rollers or sprayers are generally recommended for a smooth, even finish.
  • Consult with a Specialist:
    It’s always a good idea to consult with a local paint specialist, for specific product
    recommendations and application advice.
  • Cleanliness: Ensure RAPIDPANEL panels are clean and dry before painting.
  • Products shall not be restrained or tightly held in place for any time. Loosen or remove any tight packing material from packaging upon delivery to ensure no deformation occurs while in storage
  • Products shall not be stored in enclosed hot spaces, to ensure no deformation occurs
  • Store product level and straight – deviations for any storage time could be reflected in the finished wall/ceiling 
  • Store products in the shade or cover. Do not store in direct sunlight
